A water chemistry starter kit for the brewer who wants to see how far three different minerals can take a cup
Every brew starts with water, and water is never just water. It carries minerals that shape how coffee extracts, how sweetness comes forward, and how a cup finishes. Most brewers never touch that variable, not because it doesn't matter, but because the tools to work with it usually feel like they belong in a lab, not a kitchen.
This starter kit is built for finding that out. It pairs the Apax Lab Water Mineral Concentrates, Nano Box Set, three concentrates named Tonik, Jamm, and Lylac, with an Apax Lab TDS Meter Pen, so you can measure your water, then try each mineral against the same beans and see what changes.
Water Customization Made Easy
Water chemistry has quietly become one of the more interesting frontiers in home brewing. Total dissolved solids, the minerals suspended in your water, influence how thoroughly coffee extracts and which flavors come through most clearly. Two brewers using the same beans, the same grinder, and the same recipe can land in different cups if their water differs.
Built for Exploration
The Nano Box Set is not a single fixed recipe. It holds three separate directions, made so you can taste the range rather than commit to one answer. Tonik, Jamm, and Lylac each push a cup somewhere different, and having all three on hand means a side-by-side comparison is only a few drops away. Brew the same coffee three ways, once with each concentrate, and the differences show up in the cup rather than on a spec sheet.
Why Water Chemistry Matters
The Apax Lab TDS Meter Pen measures conductivity, giving you a fast reading of your water's total dissolved solids before you start. That reading is your baseline, the fixed point you compare against as you test each of the three minerals from the Nano Box Set. Used together, the meter and the concentrates turn water into something you can actually investigate, one adjustment and one cup at a time.

The Setup
The kit is built around a simple loop: measure, then explore. Start with the Apax Lab TDS Meter Pen to read your water's baseline. From there, add drops from the Nano Box Set, Tonik, Jamm, or Lylac, to shift your water and compare what each one does to the same brew. A use guide walks through starting ratios for each concentrate, and a downloadable recipe guide is included for brewers who want a proven starting point before branching out on their own.
